$1,300 and 42,000 miles on the Vic and 90-mile thunder run home last night. The Vic is a 2010 model and I am told the ‘10 and ‘11 models had beefed-up transmissions. This thing drives like a CHAMP, even in its current condition.
Now, all I need is a plasma cutter and a shoe horn.
The Ranger was a gift from my friend.
For those of you who knew me, I was O.C. and Rusty is still around, but that effort hit a snag and this project got dropped into my lap. My conversation with Missus went like this:
Me: “I want to buy a Crown Vic to re-engine the Ranger and make a driftmobile out of it.”
She: “Why do we need another car?”
Me: “We don’t need another car.”
She: “Why do you need another car project?”
Me: “I don’t need another car project.”
I sold some of my Tesla stock to pay for the car. Appropriate?

Good luck on making it work. During the Power Tour I talked with a guy who worked an old Crown Vic frame and power train under a 1970s F-150. It was still a dust bucket, but he said it drove nice.

Good luck! It should be pretty straightforward, except that the 4.6 is a BIG engine. I hope it fits.

You said the Vic only has 42k on it? Anyways, that thing should seriously rip if the engine fits. Are you keeping the automatic in there?

Looks like he forgot a 0 in there; I was thinking the same thing.

It’s a very consistent, very robust, very well understood power train. I’ll be keeping us posted. I am going to use everything out of the Vic, down to the gas pedal.

There’s a picture of the odometer in the post.

Yes, it’s very wide. We shall see. If not, I’ll have no trouble getting my money back out of it.

There’s something about it that made my brain think there were actually 7 digits showing.
